EFL Championship Kicks Off with Fulham v Newcastle

The 2016/17 English Football League Championship season kicks off nice and early on the 5th August 2016, filling our days with much missed action and betting opportunities.

Fulham are hosting the newly relegated club Newcastle at Craven Cottage in what promises to be a feisty start to the new campaign.

Newcastle’s manager Rafael Benitez have been busy in the transfer market changing the face of the squad in an attempt to reverse their fortunes and make it back to the top tier English Premier League.

We have seen competitive winner betting odds at William Hill for the first official match of the Sky Bet Championship season Fulham v Newcastle.

Bet on Newcastle to Win against Fulham

The newly invigorated Newcastle squad need to make a convincing start to the season if they have any chance of making it back into the Premier League in May 2017.

Benitez paid an impressive £12 million for Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth to boost the squad, signed Isaac Hayden and Mohamed Diame from Hull City as well as Aston Villa’s Ciaran Clark. £5.5 million was handed over to Blackburn for Grant Hanley and a cool £10 million for Crystal Palace player Dwight Gayle.

Fulham suffered relegation to the EFL Championship at the end of the 2013/14 season and seemed to have become a tad too comfortable in the second tier of English Football.

The London club will be hosting Newcastle with six new players of their own but perhaps not quite ready to meet the strength of Newcastle head on.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic was evidently happy when his team beat Premier League club Crystal Palace in the pre-season friendly last Saturday but he was cautious about beating Newcastle in the ‘not so friendly’ match on the 5th August.
