Premier League Hopefuls: Arsenal Pre-Season Tour

The runners up in the 2016 English Premier League, Arsenal have announced their pre-season glamour tour comprising five friendly matches to the media.

In sharp contrast to the high pressure schedule chosen by Claudio Ranieri, manager of surprise Premier League champions Leicester City, the tour fixtures are mostly ‘chilled’ and inconspicuous.

The squad will start gently on the 22nd July against the 2nd division side Lens in France before crossing the Atlantic for a match against MLS All Stars on the 28th July.

The second US match is against Chivas Guadalajar on the 31st July before the team comes back to Europe at a leisurely pace to play Viking FK in Norway on the 5th August.

Only the fifth stop of the tour in Gothenburg on the 7th August against Pepe Guardiola’s Manchester City gives Arsenal a true preview of the challenges facing them in the Premier League campaign.

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager is keen to ease the players into the new season focusing on unity and smooth interaction between the existing squad and the new additions to Arsenal FC.

Wenger is still out there ‘shopping’ for new players as he aims to make a determined attempt to win the title in the new Premier League campaign.

A Tough Challenge For Arsenal in 2016/17 Campaign

It will be a lot tougher to make head way this year in the English Premier League than last season with impressive new managers installed in the top clubs.

Pepe Guardiola has joined Manchester City from the legendary Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, Jose Mourinho is all set to take Manchester United back to the top and the Italy boss Antonio Conte has the title in view for Chelsea.

Arsenal is said to be pursuing Julian Draxler, the German Euro star, Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon FC and Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante. Wenger has already forked out £35 million for the Switzerland international player Granit Xhaka.

The last time that Arsenal won the Premier League was in 2003/2004 when they were labelled the ‘Invincibles’ as a result of winning every single fixture in the Premier League season, a record not yet matched.
