Premier League Season Opens with Leicester City at the Top

Leicester City have had a couple of months to ponder on their remarkable Premier League title win and how to hang on to it in the 2016/17 season.

The Premier League champions have the honour of opening the season and their title defence on the 13th August with a match against Hull City that shouldn’t present any problems to the high flyers.

The big challenge comes on the 20th August when they host Arsenal, runners up in last season’s standings.

All eyes will be on that fixture as football fans attempt to gauge the way Leicester City will go this time around….up or down.

Flash in the Pan Winners or Serious Contenders?

Few people will take Leicester City seriously until they prove themselves with consistently good performances in the first few fixtures.

Many experts continue to support the theory that it was a lucky ‘flash in the pan’ last season that can’t be repeated by the club a second time around.

We have seen good winner betting odds at Unibet of 30/1 for Leicester City to win the English Premier League in the 2016/17 season.

Leicester Buys in Players in Preparation

Four new players have been bought in to boost the squad and manager Claudio Ranieri has taken a calculated step to give his men international experience in the pre-season friendlies by competing in the elite International Champions Cup Tournament.

Leicester City will be facing top Champions League players in world renowned clubs boasting solid winning records across Europe… starting with a match against Celtic in Glasgow on the 23rd July.

The next friendly is scheduled against Frances’s top club PSG on the 30th July in Carson, California. The final of the three friendlies will be played closer to home in Stockholm on the 3rd August where Leicester will face La Liga champions and legends in football, Barcelona.

Ranieri is placing his team under immense pressure before the English Premier League campaign kicks off. Perhaps his shock tactics are designed to give his men a reality check and inspire unity or he’s delusional?

Whatever the reason for the harsh pre-season line up, all eyes will be on Leicester City as most football enthusiasts expect them to wiped out match after match by the hardened star players who are simply used to winning.

We do hope here at that we are totally wrong and Leicester City makes a stunning start in the pre-season friendlies.

We saw miracles happening last year so you never know if the ‘angels’ are still hovering above the King Power Stadium this summer or moved to Iceland.
